The Arena And Managing Your Peanut Gallery
Thursday Dec 30, 2021

The Arena And Managing Your Peanut Gallery
This episode is for you if you are working diligently to become the next best evolution of you in mind, body, spirit, relationships or even in business and you are experiencing criticism, naysayers, unsolicited opinions… that cause you to shrink back or question your path.
First, know that this is actually quite normal. I’ve learned to take it as an indicator that I’m on the right path!
Resistance of all kinds will show up whenever you are working at being or doing better. It could come from strangers, keyboard warriors on social media but it can also come from well meaning friends and family.
It is important for you to gain a renewed perspective so that when the resistance or criticism or doubt comes, it does not cause you to shrink back or question your path.
It is also critically important to discern who you allow to have a voice for each aspect of life and how much weight you should give it, including even your well meaning friends or family.
When we pause to think about it logically,
If you are the first in your family or friend group to choose to become committed to improving your health in mind and body, are current friends and or family the best people to “weigh in” on your choices or the new healthy methods and habits you are choosing?
When you are putting yourself out there on social media for Kingdom Impact should the voice of a social media troll really matter?
NO, and yet it does..
UNTIL we recognize what’s happening, why it’s happening and how to discern what to do with it.
There’s a famous Theodore Rosevelt quote about “the arena”. He refers to the Greek games and the warriors that would choose (or were forced) to fight.
My take away from his quote is that those that are not in the arena with you (and most are not) do not get to have a voice or opinion of significance. They aren’t in the battle therefore they are not qualified to comment, advise or criticize.
I’ve come to realize we have multiple arena’s in life; Spiritual, Relationships, Physical and Business to name a few.
The only person that is in every arena with you is God. From there you are lucky if you have a person or two who is in more than one arena with you.
This is important to understand so that you can discern who to look to for growth and progress in your ways of being and your doings for each aspect of life.
It is also very important to know; when to give little to no weight to a comment or an opinion, how to not take it personally and how to have empathy for the person speaking it.
I hope you find today’s episode helpful. As always, I would love to connect with you and hear your thoughts and experiences on this topic. You can email me at rebecca@rebeccatabbert.com or join our community on Facebook Female Christian Leaders

Did 2021 bring you to a place that was unexpected?

Did 2021 bring you to a place that was unexpected?
If you are experiencing a season that is uncomfortable, unfamiliar and unexpected take comfort in knowing you are seen, you are known, you are loved.
God's plans, His vision is greater than our own. He wants you to prosper where you are, He wants you to learn and experience because He is using your exact circumstance to cultivate who He needs you to be for the next season, the next open door...
In this episode we look into the context of Jeremiah 29:11 "For I know the plans and thoughts that I have for you," says the Lord, "Plans for peace and well-being and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope" (AMP).
The verse is quoted often but did you know God spoke this over His chosen people while they were in Exile?
Did you know that in verse 4 He says... "to all the captives whom I have sent into exile...." NOT Nebuchadnezzar. Yes Nebuchadnezzar took the action to exile God's people BUT God allowed it. It's the reminder that nothing comes to us that has not passed through God's hand, nothing is unexpected to God.
Take a listen to this quick episode. Let me know what you hear and what it means to you. Send me an email at Rebecca@rebeccatabbert.com.
In the episode I also talk about crafting your vision and goals in alignment with God's plan and purpose. I have a hands-on teaching workshop scheduled for 12/30/21….

Marriage; Mistakes, Blessings and Lessons
Friday Dec 17, 2021
Friday Dec 17, 2021
If you are thinking about marriage, newlyweds, trying to navigate a blended family, celebrating a significant anniversary or contemplating divorce, this episode has something for you. I have a little bit of all of it in my story
In fact, I don't think it's a coincidence that you noticed this episode. As I was creating and publishing this episode, there was an extremely high level of resistance. That tells me it was meant to be shared and it is meant to have a powerful impact on even ONE woman. Sis, maybe that’s you.
My stinkin thinkin and the enemy kept whispering, "who are you to talk about relationships and marriage... look at your past. You are not qualified".
God would whisper, "that's exactly why I want you to share your story and the lessons I've taught you as a result of it."
In order to kill shame, we expose it to light. We share once we have a healed heart and we are in a position of strength.
Therefore, I start the episode by sharing my experience with two prior marriages that ended in divorce.
Then, I share my experience and lessons within my blended family and 6 year marriage with my forever husband, Sam. I share how God had to take me through a season of feeling completely undone in order for me to hear Him at this level of understanding.
I close out this longer episode with the eleven lessons I believe to be the highlights of what is meant to be shared… everything to consider while dating, before marriage and who God calls us to be as women once we say “I do” and choose to be married.
I hope this very vulnerable episode encourages and blesses you.
As always, I’d love to hear from you, you can email me at rebecca@rebeccatabbert.com.
If you’d like a PDF of the eleven lessons along with supportive scripture, simply email the word “marriage” and I’ll get it over to you. rebecca@rebeccatabbert.com.
In the episode I reference the Declarative Prayer Episode. You can find it https://apple.co/3x6SsQa

Do the Holidays stir up hard emotions? This is for you
Wednesday Nov 24, 2021
Wednesday Nov 24, 2021
Do the Holidays stir up hard emotions, This is for you
As incredible as the Holidays can be, they can also stir up hard to manage emotions
==>. The Hard Stuff <==
Your family dynamic is challenging. You love them, but it's complicated.
Perhaps this is your first year without a loved one. Or it has been several years, but it does not seem to be getting easier.
Maybe you have a tendency to overindulge during the Holidays and really don't want to have that experience again this year.
==> Tough Family Dynamic <==
Be intentional about your thinking and preparation prior to the gathering or interaction.
Remember what God says about you (Psalm 139).
Remind yourself of what He wants you to do in your expression of the fruits of the spirit (Gal 5:16 and Gal 5:22)...
You do not act based on whether the other person "deserves" the fruit of the Spirit
Being the fruit of His spirit is what He asks of you, period. (I know it’s hard)
Make a decision to set the mood in the room you enter.
Your energy is your own, you do not react to the energy of others.
Identify what you CAN discuss with this person, what questions you can ask, and focus on their interests. Ask questions, show you care, and be a good listener.
==> Loss of a Loved One <==
Allow yourself to feel the emotion and give it to God.
Allow the emotion to come up when you feel it coming on.
Take a few minutes to acknowledge it and ask for guidance.
Don't judge your feelings. Don't minimize them. Don't numb out with a vice or ignore them.
Allow yourself the grace and love to feel your emotions so that with God's help you can work through them.
It doesn't mean you're going to feel better today, it means you're letting yourself feel the emotion and be in the healing process... numbing, or minimizing the pain only prolongs it.
Don't isolate yourself. Through loneliness and isolation, the enemy works over time against us.
==> Emotional Eating <==
Don't "save your calories" for the big family dinner. you are setting yourself up to eat more than you otherwise would. Eat "mini-meals" throughout the day before the family meal.
Remember, you have the choice of having whatever you want. Nothing is off limits.
The question is, what do you want the most?
=> You could eat that extra slice of pie and that third plate of stuffing OR you could eat all your favorites in moderation so that you can feel confident, proud, and still have energy tomorrow.
=> Would you prefer a lifestyle that aligns with your long-term goals, or would you rather be in cycles of extreme indulgence followed by extreme restriction or self-hatred?
Remind yourself that you CAN have XYZ at any time.
We tend to overindulge because this is the only time of year we have it ... that only encourages you to eat more, and later feel sick or uncomfortable.
You are a resourceful and strong woman... if you decide you want something again in a week, you can have it.
Pay attention when you are eating and slow down. Enjoy every bite. According to some studies, our brain takes 20 minutes to recognize that our body is receiving nourishment. Therefore, slowing down will help prevent overeating.
Next day, IF you begin to recognize guilt, or "stinkin thinkin," as I call it.
Choose to focus forward, to love and celebrate yourself.
Be grateful for progress, rather than expecting perfection.
I hope this helps you navigate the hard stuff this Holiday season.
